Ludington State Park

Among Michigan State Parks, Ludington State Park is a jewel!

The Park has 18 miles of hiking trails and is comprised of nearly 5,300 acres of scenic sand dunes, several miles of shoreline vista, ponds, marshes and forest.

The park has given many generations of campers and outdoor enthusiasts a lasting connection to the Ludington area.
Ludington State Park has an outstanding trail system for walking or running.  There are 8 separate well marked trails offering a variety of forest, dunes and river views with rustic trail shelters for cover and rest.

  In addition to hiking trails, Ludington State Park has a one of a kind canoe and kayak trail that allows exploration of park areas not accessible by foot.  Canoe, kayak and bicycle rentals are available mid May through mid October at the park store.

The Great Lakes Visitor Center at Ludington State Park is an interpretive center that offers state park visitors an understanding of park wildlife, geology and history.  Visitors to the park

Big Point Sable Lighthouse is also located in the park and is open to the public for tours.

Fishermen will find a boat ramp on Hamlin Lake and an abundance of Northern Pike, Bass, Walleye, Tiger Musky and Pan Fish.  In the spring and fall Salmon, Lake Trout, Steelhead and Brown Trout swim along the Lake Michigan shore and in the Big Sable River Imagebelow the Hamlin Lake Dam.


For a lazy way to spend a July day, bring a tube and float the Big Sable River to Lake ImageMichigan and afterwards enjoy a picnic along its shore.  When is the last time you did that?
