resize of new room 3.jpg The ideal Ludington getaway for couples, singles or families looking for a quiet Ludington vacation, near Lake Michigan.  We’re just one mile from “the beach” and the S.S. Badger in the historic Ludington bed and breakfast district.  For dining and shopping, it’s a pleasant 6 short block walk to downtown Ludington shops, galleries and restaurants.  Ludington State Park, where you will find miles of beaches and dunes, wooded trails, Big Sable lighthouse plus bicycle, canoe and kayak rental, is only 6 miles away.

We have 29 newly and individually decorated motel rooms and suites in a garden setting with a sunroom and pond.  We offer a free, full, hot breakfast featuring local foods, convenient parking outside your door, excellent housekeeping and budget rates.copy of patio, garden, pond.jpg

For your comfort, we have 5 different room styles with different amenities. They range in size from a small room with one queen bed to suites with separate living rooms, refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers.  All of our rooms are decorated differently with a blend of soothing pastel colors, modern and traditional furnishings.

Room rates are based upon two people per room with most rooms accommodating only two. Our rates, for the most part, are 20-30% less than the Ludington Holiday Inn Express. For rooms that are designated for more than two, there is a breakfast and linen charge for each extra person.  To save money on rooms see the article, top right, titled "Instant Savings".

All of our rooms have cable television, guest controlled air conditioning and heat, and telephone with free local calls. Free wireless is available in our breakfast area and outside on our patio. Most of our bathrooms are small by today’s standards but are all ceramic, bright and spotless; most have hair dryers and large walk-in showers.

pond fish.jpgOur sunroom overlooking the garden has wicker seating along with a glass patio table for 4 and a lending library. The garden and fish pond area have outdoor seating and a fire pit. Soon we’ll have covered our garden deck with a canopy lit by Japanese lanterns. This large deck will have 4 distinct sitting areas.

Ludington is a Lake Michigan resort town and its charm can be found in the walking districts, beautiful beaches and awesome sunsets.  AAA has named Ludington, for three years running, as a best place to vacation in Michigan.  You can walk to a lighthouse, stroll the beach for miles, view historic homes, enjoy House of Flavors ice cream, and visit antique shops and neighborhood restaurants.

These are just a few of the things you can do while you're visiting with us.  However, we could keep you busy for days!  Read on about some of the things that will help you have fun in the Ludington area.

state park paved trail.jpgOutdoor enthusiasts will love the 5,300 acre Ludington State Park with miles of uninterrupted beach, historic light house, canoe and bicycle rental along with 18 miles of hiking trails.

Minutes from Ludington is the Lake Michigan village of Pentwater.  This celebrated community sits on the shore of Lake Michigan.  Its tree-lined streets show off charming Victorian homes and cottages and an irrestistible 'village green'.  From the village green is a walkable collection of unique shops and galleries housed in historic buildings.  Just south of Pentwater is Silver Lake, Michigan noted for 2,000 acres of rolling sand hills and thrilling dune rides.

About 20 minutes north of Ludington, one can step back in time on Manistee's River Street.  Manistee's downtown is a National and State Historic District of Victorian buildings along with the winding Manistee River that flows to Lake Michigan.  Along River Street you can visit small shops and art galleries in restored buildings.  A 1.5 mile long boardwalk runs along the Manistee River.  Riverside restaurants and pubs have outdoor seating and offer views of river traffic and an occasional Great Lakes ship.

Manistee is also home to the Little River Casino operated by the Ottawas.  The Ottawa are one of three major tribal groups in Michigan and refer to themselves as "Anishinaabe" meaning original people in the language of the Ottawa.

Ludington is the ideal "home base" for exploring areas both north and south along the shore of Lake Michigan; Petoskey, Charlevoix, Mackinac and Traverse City.

Ludington Barns and Byways Tour October 9th

Perhaps not to the folks that work them, but to a city bred youngster like me, a barn was a magical place.  On my uncle's farm, the barn was the place where we played hide-n-seek; the hay mow with the thick rope for lifting was the best swing a child could ask for...
